A Great Blog

I don't know if it's real or not, but I love it.

Yankee Stadium

Dad decided he wanted to see a game in Yankee Stadium before the last season was over, so he and I went to a game (I'm always up for a trip to NY, and I'm the new baseball stadium traveling buddy). It was really incredible to see so much history, even if I do hate the Yankees. We had a great time and I was glad we went!

This is where Josh Hamilton hit all those home runs in the Home Run Derby.

Too many things!

I have way, way, way too many things to blog about. It's my goal to post the biggies here by the end of the week, but we'll see what happens. I do want to share a fantastic experience from earlier today...
I got to work and my computer screen was blank, which was odd, because the computer was turned on. I turned it off, and turned it back on, and the screen started up with the Windows XP thingy, but then it went blank again. This happened several times, so I called the help desk. They "escalated my ticket," so I'm sure my computer will be fixed in the next 6 months.

Meanwhile, I was sort of freaking out because I had some things saved on the hard drive. I should've learned my lesson when this same computer's hard drive had to be erased a year or two ago, but I'm a slow learner. Anyway, I really needed to get the items on the hard drive and transfer them to my jump drive, but the computer would not stay on! Finally (and, why is it always finally, instead of first?) I said a quick prayer that my computer would work long enough for me to transfer the files I needed. When I looked up, the computer was working! I got all my files moved over and then when I started working on something else, the screen just went blank again and hasn't worked any more for the rest of the day. It was a computer miracle (which is not as good as a Christmas miracle, but still a miracle)!

Exciting news

Baseball Trip

The promotion that night was being able to go out on the field and take pictures
of players as they walked around. I have no idea who these guys are.

Well, I'm finally a part of the baseball group. For a few years now, my dad, brother, and some of Andy's friends have gone to baseball parks around the country. They kept telling me I couldn't go on the "guy trip," but I'm Daddy's favorite, so he invited me to come with them. This year we went to St. Louis to see a Cardinal's game (and to see Andy and Lisa). It was so much fun, and the stadium was really nice! Next trip - Beth and Dad only to see Yankee's Stadium in Sept. Can't wait!!!

Family Reunion

The siblings

The whole family (well, almost)

Last weekend we went to a Graham Family Reunion in the mountains of southern New Mexico. We had a great time and it was a lot of fun to learn more about my grandparents and aunts and uncles when they were younger. Hopefully this will become an annual tradition!

Trip to St. Louis

Andy and Lisa just got stationed at Scott Air Force Base in IL, about 30 min from St. Louis. Since I was in NY when they came to TX last month, I decided to go visit them. The weather was horrible, and I thought I was going to freeze. I'm pretty sure it snowed a little while I was there. We had a lot of fun, though. We went to the Arch (it's not golden, I was sad to find out), but we didn't get to go up the Arch, since we got there pretty late. We also went to Blueberry Hill, a restaurant that had a lot of cool stuff. I also go to see Baxter, one of my most favorite dogs, ever. He loves his green monkey!

Trip to NY

On my last trip to New York in March, I decided to go to a couple of places I'd never been, since it was probably my last free trip! Plus, I had to be there over my birthday, so I decided to give myself a birthday present to see Wicked on Broadway. The show was AMAZING! I completely loved it, and it was totally worth the money paid for the tickets.

A few days later, I went to the American Museum of Natural History, featured in Night at the Museum. It was a lot of fun to see some of the same things that were in the movie. The best part was when I went into the Pacific Peoples hall and heard a bunch of kids say, "Gum, Gum! Can we give him some gum?!" I wonder if they had to add a special security guard since the movie came out to keep kids from sticking gum on the statue.

I also went to the Arch at Washington Square Park. The arch is in a bunch of movies, as well, but they were doing construction and had it blocked off, so I couldn't get too close. I'm still sad I didn't see the Brooklyn Bridge, or the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but I guess I can do those things when I go again.

Free Trip!!!

At work they had two free tickets to the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fl on Jan. 1st. They decided to do a drawing with the people in our Support group. Only 6 people put their names in for the drawing, but I was pretty sure I wasn't going to win because I don't really win stuff like that. Anyway, they drew a name out of the bucket, and then our Sr Director said, "Okay, before you read the name, let's see who didn't win!" They proceeded to draw names out one at a time from the group that didn't win. When it was down to three people, I was still in the running, but so was a coworker from FL who said, "If I don't win this trip, I'm not going to see my family for the holidays." It was kind of sad, because her name was drawn next. Then it was down to me and one other person. They switched to read the original name of the person who won the trip, and it was me!!!! I was so excited! The trip included tickets to the game, free airfare, hotel, car rental, and food; basically an all-expense paid trip!

The game was awesome, and our seats were incredible! I discovered a recent love for college football, and two great teams played in this game, Florida and Michigan. We didn't really care who we cheered for, so we chose Michigan because they had better colors (I DO NOT look good in bright orange). It was so crazy with SO many Florida fans, but Michigan ended up winning, and it was a lot of fun.

It's been forever!

It's been FOREVER since I posted anything, and a lot of fun things have happened, so I'm just going to put a ton of posts on here at once. Probably the biggest thing that happened since my last post, is that I changed jobs. I'm still working for the same company, in the same department, but I have a different manager and I'm now a Process Manager. Basically, when we want to change how we do something, or start doing something new, it's my job to figure out how we're going to do it. I like telling other people what to do, so it's a great job for me. I'm going to try and do better with keeping up with my blog so I don't have to do 10 posts at a time!
